Two score and seven years ago our forbears brought forth on this planet, a new network, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all data is created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great war, testing whether that network, or any network so conceived and so dedicated, can long be considered private and secure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have built the world´s largest open, free and neutral telecommunications system. We gather now to dedicate a portion of that network as a place where our data may rest securely. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

We know that our data must be our own, that we should be free to share and to hide this data according to the dictates of our souls -- and so we now embark on a mission to build /home - a repository we can truly control, to store our information in confidence. We wish to dedicate /home to those who have given their freedom, that this network might remain private, neutral, and free.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this datacenter. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us, that we here highly resolve that these great individuals shall not have suffered in vain -- that our privacy, under God, shall have a true rebirth -- and that government of our data, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
